THE HEALTH SCIENCES LIBRARY AND INFORMATICS CENTER
The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Library and Informatics Center (HSLIC) provides library services, educational development services, and manages information technology for the Health Sciences Center.

Technology Support Services (TECHS) division provides academic, business, and research computing services to the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center faculty, staff, and students.

LEARNING DESIGN CENTER
The Learning Design Center (LDC) provides a variety of educational services including:
Partnering with faculty, programs and departments to foster evidence-based learning, teaching, and assessment
Making recommendations on curricular and instructional strategies
Designing and producing learning objects
Providing instruction on the learning process and learning technologies
Providing a collection of best practices, resources, and research
Supporting Learning Central and WebCT/Vista

LIBRARY SERVICES
The Library Services division enables users to access high-quality health information from diverse sources. Library Services identifies, selects, organizes, and makes effective access to information convenient for users.

REFERENCE AND USER SUPPORT SERVICES (RUSS)
The Reference and User Support Services (RUSS) Unit fields health and research queries from users. Major services include:
Library skills training for all HSC academic programs
Reference and literature search services
Electronic and print reserve materials
Monthly classes on specific skills such as database searching and HSC standard software applications

PRINT AND ELECTRONIC RESOURCES
Two resource units, one for electronic and one for print resources manage all aspects of the collection. Services include:
Facilitating access to electronic resources
Acquiring and organizing resources
Obtaining journal articles or books from other libraries (interlibrary loan)
Receiving new book or journal suggestions

SPECIAL COLLECTIONS
The New Mexico Health Historical Collection highlights the history of health care in New Mexico through its oral history program and its research collection.

Special Collections also oversees the planning of two HSC programs:
– Hall of Discovery, a museum program which will promote awareness of health sciences in the state
– Sculpture Garden of Healing which will encompass the HSC campus

The UNM Health Sciences Library and Informatics Center is the only comprehensive health sciences library in New Mexico. Using advanced information systems and a state-of-the-art collection of print, electronic and audio-visual materials, the Library serves the needs of UNM Health Sciences Center academic and clinical programs. Its programs also support health care providers throughout the state and provide information resources for the citizens of New Mexico.
