IMIA NI Honorary Member Dr Diane J Skiba, Ph.D., FAAN, FACMI, ANEF received the IMIA NI Leadership award, which was presented to her at the NI2024 Congress in Manchester on July 29, 2024. This is a well-deserved award and recognition of her sustained leadership within IMIA NI and in nursing informatics education.

Diane has been actively engaged with IMIA NI since 1988. She was invited to her first IMIA NI post conference in 1988 and in following years was also an invited participant to Post Conferences in 1991, 2000, 2009, and 2016. In the 2000s, Diane led as Chair, then
mentored and supported others as co-chair on the IMIA NI Education Working Group. She served as Chair of the NI2003, NI2006 and NI2009 Student Award Committee and was the Chair of the Student Design Contest Awards Committee in 2016. Diane also served on the Scientific Program Committee (SPC) for NI2016 and was Co-Chair of the SPC for NI2018.

In addition, Diane was the USA representative to IMIA NI and then stepped into a Vice Chair role for IMIA NI, before 2016-2020 when she was Chair of IMIA NI. One of her IMIA NI Past Chair’s projects has been to coordinate honorary member activities and plan for the 40th anniversary celebration. Diane is currently the Chair of the Nominations Committee for IMIA NI.
