The International Medical Informatics Association is proud to announce that the IMIA General Assembly has approved the endorsement of the updated 2016 IMIA Code of Ethics for Health Information Professionals at the General Assembly meeting on August 28th, 2016 in Munich, Germany.

IMIA acknowledges great appreciation of the revision of the “code”  to Dr. Eike-Henner W. Kluge, Professor of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Victoria in Victoria, BC, Canada, for his time and dedication in providing IMIA with this valued document.

Dr. Kluge was the primary author of the original code in 2003, which was based on the contributions of a multiplicity of individuals, agencies and organizations and he has worked endlessly to update the code over the last couple of years.   In addition to the revised “code”, the detailed handbook of explanations that go along with the principles and clauses of the code is being updated.
