Academy Fellows are invited to nominate New Fellow candidates:

  • Only Academy Fellows are eligible to nominate new candidates.
  • Two nominating Fellows are required for each nomination.
  • Nomination deadline for the 2026 class is March 2nd, 2026.
  • Qualification of the nominations will be reviewed in accordance with the Academy’s bylaws in order to affirm that all qualifications and criteria have been met.
  • Nominations are provided to the current Academy Fellows, along with the voting instructions a few weeks after the deadline.
  • New Fellows will be inducted at the next Academy Plenary.

Academy Fellow candidates must have the following qualifications:

Accomplishment – The candidate must have:
• extensive training and experience, with notable achievements in research, implementation, policy, or educational impact.
• demonstrated significant leadership in biomedical and health informatics over a span of at least ten years, often much longer.
Global Engagement – The candidate must demonstrate significant international involvement, evidenced by participation in international activities, particularly in research, publication, education, or leadership roles within:
• IMIA or IMIA’s region’s Boards, Committees, Working Groups/Special Interest Groups, etc.
• IMIA’s bi-annual MedInfo conferences and/or conferences hosted by IMIA’s regional medical informatics organizations, such as APAMI, EFMI, HELINA, and others, outside of their own Society Association.
Recognition – In regions where applicable, it is highly relevant if the candidate is an elected member of an academy of sciences or a similar prestigious organization.

  1. A curriculum vitae of the nominee or link to an online version.
  2. A link to their publication listings, such as ResearchGate, Google Scholar or ORCID
  3. A photo of the nominee.
