The Harvard Medical School Department of Biomedical Informatics (DBMI) promotes and facilitates collaborative research and educational activities in biomedical informatics among researchers at Harvard Medical School and its affiliated institutions.

In an era of biomedical knowledge overload, high-throughput biomedical data generation, increasing consumer access to biomedical information, and national demands for real-time, information based public health, DBMI convenes and leads research and educational activities to meet these needs.

DBMI provides many opportunities for educational, research, and collegial/social interaction among its faculty, students and fellows.

The Department of Biomedical Informatics is chaired by Isaac Kohane, MD, PhD.
